It’s been a bit since I’ve done any watercoloring, so let’s play with some water and ink today! I recently received the Stampin Up Lighting The Way bundle, and I decided it would be stunning with some watercolor backgrounds. Here’s what I created. What do you think?

Watercolor Backgrounds Three Ways
Here are the watercolor backgrounds I created, and I’ll explain how I created each one.
1. For this one I applied ink and water using a small water painter brush. I applied light blue all over, then added darker ink in lines and swirls. I went back over it with extra water to get everything to blend nicely, then added the grass at the bottom. The ink colors I used were Balmy Blue, Coastal Cabana, and Pacific Point.
2. For this card, again I used a water painter to apply color, but I used a large brush and a back and forth motion across the length of the card. I used Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Pale Papaya inks. I stamped the foliage after the background was dry.
3. For my third card, I applied Night of Navy, Starry Sky and Orchid Oasis inks directly to a large acrylic block. I spritzed it with ink 10 times, then laid the watercolor paper on top and gave it a good press.
