It’s an exciting day today, as our new catalog is officially released! I know you want ideas for these new products, and I won’t disappoint. But I always like to share a technique or something inspiring that you can also use with products you already have in your collection, and today’s involves Blends Alcohol Markers. It’s been a little bit since I’ve used these markers in my tutorials, and I’ve been feeling the need to get them out and share some fun projects with you. I’ll be using the new Stampin Up Simple And Beautiful stamp set, and it’s just too cute. Let’s get started.
Stampin Up Hearts & Hugs
Here you can see the sweet stamp set I used for today’s cards, along with the coordinating dies. The set is called Hearts & Hugs. The animals are so cute, and I especially love a few of the dies, like that sweet little arch of hearts. There are so many ways to use it!
Intro To Alcohol Markers
If you’re new to alcohol markers or just want a refresher on the basics, you’ll want to visit my original post about alcohol markers here with all the fun details.
5 Ways To Use Alcohol Markers
Now let’s take a look at some simple ways to use these markers for stunning projects.
1. Color Without Blending
This is just like normal coloring. Pick a color and stick with it. We don’t always have to complicate the use of these markers by having to blend colors with them.
On the card shown here, I used the markers to color the mouse without doing any blending. Aren’t the bold colors amazing?
2. Color With Blending
In my opinion, the best part about alcohol markers is the ability to blend with them, so I did want to do some blending on these adorable animals. See the shading on the cute animal? Tell me what kind of animal you think this is in the comments!
3. Create Scribbled Backgrounds
This is so quick and easy, and makes such a bold pop of color. Here you can see how I used that adorable heart die!
4. Flick With Alcohol For Fun Backgrounds
For this technique, take a background that you’ve already created, dip your finders into rubbing alcohol, and then ‘flick’ the droplets onto your background. Neat, right?
5. Make Artwork
The sky is the limit with these markers. I thought the walruses would look cute on the edge of an iceberg, so I drew one myself!
I also created the scribbled heart background on this card.
