Do you love to color? Or do you avoid it? For some stampers, coloring is actually stressful, but for many of us it is relaxing and therapeutic. Regardless of which group you’re in, I have a new take on coloring to share with you today – carefree coloring! Not too long ago I received the Stampin Up Eclectic Garden stamp set, and it inspired me to look at coloring in a new way. Let’s take a look.
Carefree Coloring Video
Watch along here as I show several ways to give carefree coloring a try.
Stampin Up Eclectic Garden
The stamp set I used to make the cards below is so unique, and here’s why. Each of the four images in the stamp set were designed so they can be ‘colored’ using the two texture stamps shown at the top left, which are included in the set. I think this is such a unique idea, and it got me thinking about other simple ways to add color.
To make these cards, I stamped first with Early Espresso ink, then used Pear Pizzazz and Polished Pink inks to add color with the ‘fill in’ stamps. What do you think? I think it’s an awesome way to create simple and pretty cards.
After I created these, I decided this stamp set is perfect to demonstrate more ways to do carefree coloring. Let’s look at a few.
Carefree Coloring Techniques
I tried these techniques using a few of my favorite tools for coloring. Take a look at the effect when I ‘scribble’ a.k.a. ‘do some carefree coloring’ with them.
You could try carefree coloring with watercolor pencils too. What do you think? Do you like the look or is it too messy for you?!
