The release of the Stampin Cut And Emboss Machine by Stampin Up has led to a great deal of questions about this machine, it’s size, and how it functions. I wanted to take the opportunity today to answer these questions, so I hope you’ll join in and read along. If you missed them, I’ve also shared posts introducing you to the new machine and one comparing it to the Big Shot. Hopefully by the end of today’s post, you’ll feel like you know ALL about it and be able to decide whether this is an addition you’ll want to make to your craft collection. Let’s get to talking about your Stampin Cut And Emboss Machine FAQs!
Let’s get started answering those questions!
How Is It Different From The Big Shot?
This is one of my biggest questions. Please visit yesterday’s post which compares the new machine to the Big Shot.
Can I Use Any Dies And Embossing Folders With It?
Yes, you should be able to use old-style dies and embossing folders, as well as those from other manufacturers with this machine. Just make sure to follow manufacturer instructions for using the proper plates.
Why Is My Machine Slipping Around On My Work Surface?
My machine had dust collected on the anti-skid feet when it arrived, and yours may as well. If your machine slips around, this is probably the reason. I wiped the feet off with a damp rag, let them dry, and they have been happily keeping my machine in place ever since.
Is This Machine Only Offered Through Stampin Up?
Yes, it is. Stampin Up worked with another company to develop it, but this particular machine with its appearance and exterior features is offered exclusively through SU.
How Large Is This Machine?
I talk about the folded size, the unfolded size, the inner clearance, and the platform size in this post.
Does It Come With A Warranty?
Yes, the Stampin Cut And Emboss machine comes with a limited 3-year warranty as long as you follow manufacturer’s instructions during use.
Do I Need To Purchase Plates To Use It?
All of the plates you’ll need to use the machine come with it, including the base plate, die plate, two clear cutting plates, and specialty plate for 3D embossing folders. This is all you will need to get started.
A magnetic cutting plate and embossing mats will be available as accessories if you choose to purchase them.
How Do I Use It?
I discuss how to use this machine, and have a video tutorial in this post.
Is This Machine Really Better? Is It Worth Upgrading?
I’m always somewhat skeptical when trying new things. I’m not going to believe the hype until I used it and make my own opinions. In this case, I do believe this machine has many features and improvements compared to others, and if you’re considering giving it a try, I think you’ll love it.

Hi Sandra, I’m glad you enjoy my videos! Yes, you should be able to use other dies according to their instructions. Are the dies you’re talking about the thin metal dies such as the ones I showed? If so you shouldn’t have any problems at all. Please let me know if you have other questions.
Barbara Knight Ott says

You mention “made by another company”. Which company?
Anna Helman says
Hi Leslie, when/where did I mention that? I’m not sure what you’re referring to.
