Welcome, and thanks for being here today! I’m ready to switch up my card making projects this week, and I’ll be sharing ideas for slimline cards all week long. Have you tried making slimline cards before? If not, you have to do it this week! I’ll have tons of ideas, and most of them are coming at you today as I share 10 different ideas for using slimline card dies featuring the new Stampin Up Slim Card dies set. Let’s take a look!
10 Ways To Use Slimline Card Dies Video
For all the fun details on creative ways to use slimline card dies on your paper projects, watch along here.
Stampin Up Slim Card Dies Set
Here you can see the die set that inspired today’s fun video, the Stampin Up Slim Card dies. This is such a unique set, and I love it for a few reasons. First, I love the design of the large dies. They create big, bold die cuts with beautiful patterns that will perfectly fill the front of a slimline card. Because of the neat patterns and the openings created, there are tons of ways to use these two dies. Also, the border designs are a really nice addition to the set. They allow you to create nice edges on your cards, and they can be used other ways as well, such as on envelopes.
Stampin Up Slim Sayings Stamp Set
I also wanted to share this stamp set, because it pairs so nicely with the Stampin Up Slim Card dies set, and I used it several times on the cards you’ll see below. I love these big greetings, and I’ve been using them a ton! Oh, I should mention that you can get the Slim Card dies and Slim Sayings stamps as a bundle with 10% savings.
Are you ready for the full run-down on ideas for using slimline card dies on projects? Here they are!
Ways To Use Slimline Card Dies
1. Use the Die Cut As Intended
Apply the die cut to a slimline card exactly as it is cut.
2. Use the Negative Pieces And Remove The Actual Die Cut
Apply a die cut temporarily to your project, then fill in the open spaces with the ‘trash’ negative pieces. Remove the die cut to see the reverse design.
3. Use Negative Pieces To Create Your Own Pattern
Use the ‘trash’ to create cute designs.
4. Create a Decorative Edge
Use a border die to create a beautiful edge.
5. Create a Double Decorative Edge
Use a border die on both edges – just make sure not to completely cut off the card fold on the left side.
6. Use Die Cut As A Mask For Blending Or Spritzing
Apply the diet cut with removable adhesive, then spritz or use blending brushes over the top. When done, remove the die cut.
7. Extend & Create A Scrapbook Page Border
Cut two die cuts and attach them together for a neat scrapbook page border.
I didn’t try the next three ideas, but I still wanted to share them with you.
8. Apply Strips Of Color Behind Die Cuts
Wouldn’t it look neat to use some of your scrap paper strips, put them on the card front, and apply a die cut over top?
9. Weave Paper Strips Through Die Cuts
What about weaving paper strips through one of the die cuts?
10. Weave Ribbon Through Die Cuts
If we’re talking about weaving, what about weaving ribbon through the die cuts?
Bonus Ideas!
My ideas for using this die set just can’t quit! Here are a few more ideas… Use them to create a decorative edge on your envelope flap. Use the border dies to create decorative strips which can be repeated on a card front. Trim down the large die cuts and use them on regular A2 size cards.
