Prepare yourself…there is an overwhelming amount of cuteness headed your way. First off, have you see Stampin’ Up’s new Playful Pals stamp set and thinlits? If not, browse your way to page 44 of the new Occasions catalog (if you would like to see a catalog please contact me). The thinlits set has a die to create these adorable little triangle-shaped treat boxes, and then using the stamps and dies you can make body parts for some amazingly cute animals. The samples pictured in the catalog include a pig, dog, elephant, monkey (or possibly bear? I’m not sure which) and a chick. Here are the creatures I came up with…
I like to think of them as my small zoo of treat boxes. Let’s take a closer look at the little guys.
Here is the kitty cat. All of the stamps and dies that I used were included in the Playful Pals set. The only change I made was snipping off the ‘elephant trunks’ to use them as paws.
On to the fish. I was a little proud of this one. I used the frog legs for the back fins and the ear stamp and die for the lips and side fins. On the lips, I used a Stampin’ Write marker to fill in one side to look less like an ear and more like lips.
The giraffe…another favorite of mine. I used the elephant ear die for it’s head. The other parts were all used as intended. He looks like he needs a hug.
And the penguin. This one must have been my daughter’s favorite because as soon as she saw the collection of treat boxes, she oohed and ahhed for a quick moment before grabbing the penguin and ripping its flipper off. She’s so fast. I was right beside her and didn’t see it coming. Anyway, I used a couple of items for this guy that were not part of the Playful Pals set including the circle punch for his head, the stamp set and punches used on the heart and greeting, and I cut the beak by hand.
Here’s my cute little bunny. I thought the Blushing Bride glimmer paper added a lot, and I just couldn’t forget a cotton ball tail.
Here’s the whole clan one more time.
If you plan on making some of these, I highly suggest using tear and tape adhesive. It’s narrower than our other adhesives, so it fits better onto the flaps that close the boxes. In addition, it’s super sticky so they don’t pop open.
