Today’s project is so much fun! My niece’s birthday party was yesterday, and I wanted to make her a card with a cartoon character that she likes. I know she likes Frozen and Sesame Street, but I was hoping for something simpler to make than the characters in Frozen, and more interesting than the ones in Sesame Street. I called my brother to get some ideas. After a couple of minutes he mentioned the Minions. That’s it! I can do that! I have seen super cute Minion cards, and I was excited to make one myself. Here is the (in my personal opinion) adorable Minion birthday card that I made her.
I made the minions using the Owl Builder punch. It punched all the pieces I needed except for the overall straps, the arms and the black band on their heads. Those pieces were simple to cut myself.
After the Minions were done, I cut and prepared the rest of the pieces for the card. I attached the Pacific Point top layer to the white mat and then used the 1 3/4″ circle punch to punch where I wanted the Minions to be placed. Then I attached that layer on top of the black card base, lined up my punch with the holes I had already punched in the top layer, and punched again so the hole was through all three layers. I didn’t want to break my punch by punching through three layers at once!
If you happened to notice, I actually embossed the greeting on the front. We do not have Pacific Point embossing powder, so how did I do this? I inked the stamp using Versamark ink first, then I inked it using Pacific Point ink. Next I stamped it and embossed using clear embossing powder. You can emboss with any color using this technique!
Don’t forget that Online Extravaganza starts today, and I have some awesome deals as well. Make sure to use hostess code NA6AZJPU! Happy shopping and stamping!
