Magnetic Sheets For Dies

Just last week I shared a welcome tour of my new craft room. Over time I’ll be sharing a more detailed look at certain areas of my craft space and how I organize my supplies. I am 100% over the moon for the way I’m storing dies, and I have to share the magnetic sheets that I’m using. After having these, I wouldn’t store my dies any other way or with any other brand of magnet sheets. I want to share because this tip might help you too!

Two Types of Magnetic Sheets For Dies

I’ll mention that the magnetic sheets I’m sharing today are where I store my most-used dies like basic shapes, tags, and labels. I really like to keep them within reach so that it’s quick and easy to find a die, use it, and replace it.

I do use a second kind of magnet sheet that you can see below. I’ll share about these at some point in the future. I store my lesser used dies on these, since I only pull them out every so often. You can get more information about the magnet cards and clear sleeves here.

I love both of these ways of storing dies, and I’m so happy I chose to get both from Stamp-N-Storage because the quality is so nice. You don’t want magnet cards or sheets that are thin and don’t have much of a magnetic pull. Believe me, I know. Keep reading for a story on this below…

Where To Put Magnetic Sheets

As you can see, I placed mine on the sides of my paper cubes. Ideally, you would put them on a smooth surface that adhesive would stick well to, not unfinished wood like I did. Time will tell if the adhesive holds to the wood boxes.

The magnet sheets I used in my previous craft area were on the inside of my cabinet doors. I really liked this except that I bought cheap magnet sheets…keep reading for the fun story.

Where would you ideally put magnet sheets in your craft space? On the inside of cabinet doors, on the side of a bookshelf, desk or cabinet, or even on the wall near your workspace? Look at the vertical spaces in your craft area, and find one as close to your work space as possible. Would it be handy to have dies accessible from this area?

Quality & Where To Get Magnet Sheets

In the past I had used cheap magnetic sheets from Amazon. They worked as long as I didn’t bump into the cabinet door too hard. Because they were thin and low-quality, they didn’t have a strong pull to hold the dies in place. Several times the door got bumped and the dies all fell onto the floor…and into the layers and layers of paper stored just below them in my cabinet…and into every crack and crevice they found. I never found some of them 🙁

For my new craft area I’m being more selective about the organizers I use, and I ordered these magnetic sheets from Stamp-N-Storage. These magnetic sheets are awesome. They are really thick and high quality, and they actually pull the die from my hand before I’ve fully released it. I don’t have to be as careful when replacing dies, and I don’t have to worry about them falling off.

How To Attach Magnetic Sheets

These sheets have self-stick adhesive on the back side. Just peel down a portion of the paper backing, line up where you want them, press down the portion with the backing removed, and then remove the rest of the backing. Press well to adhere. I showed exactly how I did this in my video linked above.
