Happy Fourth of July! I hope you are able to spend time celebrating with friends and family this weekend. In honor of the holiday, I needed to make a fitting card. I wanted to use some designer paper, so I started flipping through our new designer prints paper packs, not really knowing what I was looking for. It didn’t take long and this red and white striped design in the English Garden paper pack caught my eye. Perfect.

That made a great base for the card. Next I decided to turn it into a version of the flag. A few stars and some bling later, I thought it looked pretty good.

Someone asked me recently if there is a specific way to make the ‘messy thread’ look. I honestly don’t know if there is a correct way, but this is the way I usually do it. I put down a glue dot (not a dot of glue, the pre-dried sticky Glue Dots) and then start wrapping the thread. Each time I wrap it, I make sure to press it into the glue dot.

Have a great holiday weekend and enjoy the fireworks, unless you’re in one of the drought areas. If that’s the case, I hope you can at least watch some fireworks on TV!
