Welcome back friends! I’m excited today to be sharing six more beginner level stamping techniques that anyone can do! I think today’s cards turned out beautifully, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Let’s take a look!
Featured Stamp Set – Thoughtful Expressions
Here’s the lovely stamp set I used on these cards. I like that it includes a gorgeous hummingbird, some nice flowers, and assorted greetings.
Now let’s take a look at the card projects!
Card 1
This card features a lovely hummingbird and flowers, and the ‘You Are Loved’ greeting.
The three techniques that I used on this card, and demonstrated in today’s video, include:
Heat Embossing – To do this, begin by stamping your image with Versamark ink, then apply embossing powder over the ink. Shake off excess, then use a heat tool to ‘melt’ the powder until it turns glossy. Learn more about heat embossing here.
Water Painters – This is how I added color to the hummingbird and flowers. To use them, pick up ink with the tip of the water brush, and ‘paint’ onto your project.
Splatters – I used the Water Painters for this technique as well. Begin by picking up ink with the water brush, then tap it on your hand to send a few small splatters across your project. Make sure to cover your work surface to protect it from stray splatter!
Next let’s look at the second card, along with more techniques.
Card 2
The second card features the same stamps, but different techniques.
They include:
Masking – To try this technique, use masking paper or a post it note to cover a portion of your project. Do your stamping, then remove the masking paper to reveal an area without ink applied. I masked over the center portion of the card to leave a blank area for my greeting. Learn more about masking here.
Spritz Stamping – For this technique you will need a small spritz bottle such as my water spritzers. Begin by inking your stamp, then lay it upside down on your work surface and use a water spritzer to spritz it 2-3 times with water. Then stamp on your project. This creates a lovely watercolor effect without any creativity needed!
Shadow Stamping – Do this technique by stamping with white ink on your project and letting it dry. Then stamp again with a color over the top. Don’t line up the stamp in exactly the same place, you want it to be offset just a little to reveal the white ‘shadow.’
There you have it – several simple techniques that any beginning or experienced card maker can do! Make sure to watch along with the video below to see exactly how I created these cards!
