I’m pretty much in love with my project for today, partially because of what it is and partially because of who it’s for. These are the birthday party invitations for my little girl’s third birthday party, which is coming up in about a week and a half. She loves animals and playing farm, so we’re having a farm animal themed party. The Stampin’ Up! Barnyard Babies stamp set is perfect for the occasion. Didn’t these turn out cute?
I started with a Real Red card base and trimmed the top in the shape of a barn roof. Then I used my handy Stampin’ Trimmer to cut and score the barn doors so that they would open as shown below.
Those amazingly adorable animals are from the Barnyard Babies stamp set. Funny story about those animals…when my daughter saw the pieces and parts of these invitations laying on my craft table, she picked up the pieces with the animals stamped on them, stared at them in silence for what seemed like an awkwardly long time, and then said in her sweet little voice, “You’re a very good lady…you’re a very good lady.” How adorable. I guess that meant she liked them.
For the inside of the invitations, I designed them on the computer and printed them on our regular white cardstock, then cut them apart. They needed some farm animals stamped on them too. The one on the left, according to Kelsey is a, “Maaa.” She’s known the word ‘goat’ for two years, so I guess she just felt like saying ‘maaa’ instead.
A couple more notes – the ‘Look who’s turning’ stamp and large number 3 are from the Number of Years stamp set. I cut the 3’s out with the Large Numbers dies. I stamped the white lines on the barn doors with a stamp from the new Bookcase Builder set, and last but not least, the straw on the barn floor came from the Oh So Succulent set. It made perfect straw.
I hope you liked these. Now you just need a reason to plan a barn party!
