Earlier this week I shared that I’ll be doing alcohol marker projects all week long! If you want a basic introduction to using alcohol markers, take a look here and if you missed my basic blending techniques tutorial from a few days ago, check it out. Today we’re creating alcohol marker backgrounds. These are so quick and easy to create, and the result is bold and bright.

Creating Alcohol Marker Backgrounds
Creating these backgrounds is very simple. Choose two or more colors you want to blend together for the background. Use the lighter color and put some scribbles onto cardstock. Add a darker color below it. Use the lighter color to go over both areas, paying special attention to the area where the two colors meet. Add more ink in this area to help the colors blend together. If you are using more than two colors, continue with other colors. Watch along with the video for more details on using multiple colors.

That’s how fast it is to create the background. Then you can complete the card as desired. I made the simple designs shown below.
I created this one with the Reasons to Smile Stamp set, which I also used in this other alcohol marker backgrounds tutorial I shared a few weeks ago.

Here is another one I made with the same stamp set. Which colors do you like better? The blues or the pinks?

For large stamps like this greeting, I always use my Stamparatus because I never, ever get it stamped well the first time. This way I have a second or third chance to stamp it in the same place.

Here is another card sample with a little more white space. This one was even faster to create, since I only colored part of the background. The stamp set used here is called True Beauty, and I did a really fun spritzing tutorial with it recently.
