Hi fellow stampers! It’s good to be back with the OSAT Blog Hop. We’re all featuring birthday projects this month, which is fantastic, because everyone needs birthday card ideas! As much as I love birthdays, I just can’t drag myself away from the products in our new Holiday Catalog, so I actually chose to use a fall stamp set with birthday greetings included – Basket of Wishes.
Here they are…my card and crate featuring the Basket of Wishes and Sheltering Tree stamp sets.
For the base of the card and crate, I used the white designer paper with a lovely leafy design from the Fancy Frost specialty paper pack. I sponged ever so lightly over the top with Sahara Sand ink to bring out the leaf design, making sure to blot off on scrap paper before doing the sponging to remove excess ink.
I decided to leave the crate plain, as to not take away from the somewhat busy card design. I ran out and grabbed a few gourds from my garden to use as fillers, but you could fill it with candy, cookies, or other fun treats.
Have I mentioned that I love fall? I love everything about it: pumpkins, changing leaves, harvest, corn shocks, cooler weather, football…I love it all. Actually, this talk about fall makes me want to do some reminiscing…
Growing up, I raised pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, and other fall items that I sold locally. I began this when I was about 6 or 7 years old, planting just a few pumpkins in my family’s garden. This started as a result of my brother, who is 6 years older than me, having livestock 4-H projects, and I was basically jealous and wanted a project of my own. My mom bought me some seeds in hopes that it would keep me busy, probably because I was driving her crazy. Keep me busy it did. I continued this even after I was in college. I think back and laugh about some of the things I did. I would load up my crop on our antique wagon, and my dad would pull me out to the intersection at the corner of our farm, 1/4 mile from the house, and drop me off to sit by the road and sell by myself! I was probably 10 years old at the time. Someone would probably call child services today for some kid sitting by the road by themself!
Ok I’m rambling. My point…I love fall. I had to order the Basket of Wishes stamp set as soon as I saw it, and I decided to pair it with Sheltering Tree for a nice fall scene on this card.
After stamping the basket and using an aqua painter to add color, I covered the basket itself with gold Wink of Stella for a dazzling sheen.
I added Stella to the tree branches as well. Isn’t the greeting fantastic?
Thanks for joining in the hop! Make sure to follow along to see what everyone else has to share! Alisa is up next!
