3 Top Craft Room Organization Tips
Watch along here as I share my best tips!
Top Craft Room Organization Tips
Let’s talk about my best tips!
1. Have a place for everything.
This is so important. If you don’t have a place where each item officially belongs, then you don’t know where to return it after use. It might sit on a table, in a pile, on the floor, in a box, or it might get shoved somewhere and then you can’t find it. Determine where each item belongs. If you really can’t figure out where to put something, decide if you really need it in your collection. If you need to keep it and aren’t sure where it goes, add it to your ‘junk’…I mean, ‘assorted treasures’ basket, drawer, or shelf.
2. Find A Scrap Organization System That Works For You
This is so very important! When I finally discovered a scrap system that worked for me, it was life changing. I no longer had scraps heaping up in mountains that I didn’t know what to do with! My scrap organization system has two parts. First, I have a drawer where scraps get placed until I have time to organize them further. The second step is that when I do have time to organize them, I sort them by color into the photo organizer shown below.
3. Don’t Skimp When Purchasing Organizers
I know budgets are limited, but if at all possible don’t cut corners when purchasing organizers. These are items you’ll be able to use for your entire crafting life. Being organized saves time and makes your crafting experience SO much more enjoyable. Spend what you’re able to in order to have the setup you want.

I found small totes with ledges on each side for hanging file folders was the perfect scrap paper storage for me. They sit on the floor under an open area desk to the side of my crafting table. In alphabetical order I have 2 totes and may have to expand to 3! This works for me.

I have a rolling cart with 10 drawers. Two drawers each that are in the colors red, yellow, blue, green and purple. The extra drawers are for pink, orange, white, brown, and black/gray. Each drawer is labeled with its color word and it is so easy to find a scrap when needed. This cart is beside/behind me as a work in my craft chair at my desk. Patterned paper is another story, however. 🙂

I found that old stamp cases with paper scraps works great. Each is labeled with families: neutrals, white, vanilla, blues/greens, oranges/reds, pinks/purples etc. store on a handy shelf and all scrap sizes are easily found!

Stampinstorage may be good quality but way too expensive – unaffordable for most of us. I would have No budget left for replenishing consumables which are more expensive every year. The stamping up storage is expensive for plastic boxes. Sat that price it should at least snap together instead of the buyer needing to glue which is irreversible or tape which is unattractive
