For today’s projects, I want to share 3 ways to use stencils (otherwise known as masks) with you. I’ve heard several times from stampers that many of you have stencils in your collection, but you often forget to pull them out and use them. I love to use my stencils in a few different ways, so let me share these ways with you today. Maybe it will inspire you to pull out your stencils, or order some and use them soon!

I’ll share the main products I used in the next sections, and then we’ll get into the stenciling techniques!
Adorning Designs Decorative Masks
Here you can see the cute Adorning Designs Decorative Masks set I used for today’s cards. They’re perfect for holiday cards, but could be used year-round on other projects as well.
Penguin Place Stamp Set
The stamp set I used on these cards is called Penguin Place. I *love* this stamp set! Isn’t it cute?

Ok, now let’s look at today’s cards and the different ways to use stencils.
3 Ways To Use Stencils
Blending Brushes Or Sponges
The most common way to use masks is with sponges or blending brushes. You simply need to pick up ink onto the brush or sponge, then use a circular pattern to gently blend it over top of the mask. When you remove the mask, the color is left behind with white space in between.
Spritzers
Spritzers are a small water bottle that you can fill with liquid, usually water or rubbing alcohol, as well as ink drops in the color of your choice. They can be used to add splatters to a project, or in this case, to spritz over a stencil to create a beautiful pattern.
Embossing Paste
My third and favorite way to use stencils is with embossing paste. You can apply the white paste over top of a stencil, or mix in an ink color before applying it as I did here. I love using my silicone craft sheet for this.
